Tonalá, Jalisco, March 22, 2018. The mayor of Tonalá, Sergio Chávez Dávalos, today inaugurated five outdoor gyms in public spaces throughout the city.  The gyms were donated by Arca Continental, the second-largest Coca-Cola bottler in Latin America, which is part of the Coca-Cola Mexican Industry, through the “Vive tu Parque” (Live Your Park) program one of the many social investment and sustainability actions of the company.

The symbolic opening of the five spaces took place at Parque San Cristobal. The mayor was accompanied by other functionaries and neighbors of the city.

Enrique Pérez Barba, General Manager of Arca Continental in Mexico’s West Region, and other Arca executives shared several initiatives with the mayor that are taking place permanently in Jalisco to benefit the community, including “Ponte al 100,” “Escuelas en Movimiento” (Schools in Motion) and “Vive tu Parque.”

“The promotion of physical activity and sports is a key part of our sustainability and social responsibility strategy. We are proud to be part of joint efforts with authorities and civil society.  This is reflected in the 11 outdoor gyms installed in different cities in Jalisco through the ‘Vive tu Parque’ initiative,” said Pérez Barba.

The other four outdoor gyms are in the communities of La Pitayera, Jardines de la Reyna, Paseo Loma Sur and Loma Bonita. As part of the agreement, the city has committed to install another five spaces.

The municipality of Tonalá and Arca Continental reinforced their commitment to keep working together in initiatives to promote physical activation and sports.
