-Arca Continental is one of 759 companies worldwide that achieved the highest sustainable standards to be included in the publication.

-This recognition is the result of the Company's Sustainable Business Model.

Monterrey, Nuevo León, February 15, 2024.-   For the second consecutive year, Arca Continental was included in the Sustainability Yearbook, the annual publication by the rating agency Standard & Poor's Global (S&P Global), which recognizes the world's leading companies in corporate sustainability for their environmental, social and corporate governance impact.

The selection of the companies recognized by the pollster is based on the score they obtain in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which is conducted annually by S&P Global. During 2023, more than 9,400 companies were evaluated worldwide, of which 759 achieved the highest standards to be included.

This recognition adds to Arca Continental's other achievements, such as its inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability MILA Pacific Alliance Index, where the company has been listed for 5 years, and which seeks to measure the performance of companies considered best in class, and which comply with certain sustainability requirements better than their peers within their industry.

Added to this, for the seventh consecutive year, the company received the certificate accrediting it as a member of FTSE4Good for its environmental, social and corporate governance performance and best practices in the emerging markets category in Latin America; in addition to this ratification, Arca Continental has been recognized in key international indicators such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices of S&P Global and the Sustainable Company of the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV).

The distinction in the Sustainability Yearbook, along with 14 other leading companies in Mexico, is the result of Arca Continental's conviction to operate a Sustainable Business Model, in addition to boosting its business, it generates value for the communities where it operates.

Following this line, the company from Monterrey has implemented various actions in Water Sustainability, Circular Economy of its packaging, as well as Carbon Footprint, aligned with its commitment to the UN's 2030 Agenda SDGs.

Water Footprint

Arca Continental remains at the forefront of technology and process innovation with an integral water sustainability strategy. Today, the company uses 1.52 liters of water per liter of product produced, making it one of the most efficient globally. It also shares with the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry the commitment to return to nature the equivalent of 100% of the water used in its production processes, and to promote access to water for people through programs such as "Escuelas de Lluvia", which to date has provided 95 schools with rainwater harvesting systems, adding up 30 thousand beneficiaries in the school community.

Carbon Footprint

To join climate action, Arca Continental has implemented a Carbon Footprint Reduction Plan for direct and indirect emissions, endorsed by the Science Based Targets Initiative, and to contribute to the mitigation of global warming.

Evidence of this plan includes the NorthPoint Production Center in the United States, which operates 100% with renewable energy, while in Ecuador, 100% of its electrical energy comes from a hydroelectric plant; in Mexico, 39% of the energy used by the company comes from renewable sources.

Furthermore, through PET recycling powered with PetStar, the emission of more than 100 thousand tons of CO₂ per year are prevented annually.

Packaging and Waste

Arca Continental has a strategy to promote the Circular Economy of its packaging. Together with the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry, Arca Continental aims to recover the equivalent of all the bottles it places on the market and incorporate at least 50% recycled material in its packaging.

Today, the company recycles 6 out of every 10 bottles it puts on the market, while in 2022, it became the first bottler in North America to integrate more than 50% recycled content in its PET packaging marketed in the United States.

With multiple projects and initiatives based on its Sustainable Business Model, Arca Continental will continue in its quest to generate shared value, strengthening its presence in the communities where it operates.
