Arca Continental and Fundación Coca-Cola México Inaugurate 8 Rainwater Harvesting Systems in Tlaquepaque

Arca Continental and Fundación Coca-Cola México, in collaboration with the Honorable Municipality of Tlaquepaque, inaugurated eight rainwater harvesting systems that will benefit up to 3,600 students.
With a collection potential of between 500,000 and one million liters of rainwater per year, this initiative strengthens Arca Continental’s water security strategy.
Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, May 8, 2025 – With the aim of contributing to and raising awareness about water conservation among children and communities, Arca Continental—one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world—and Fundación Coca-Cola México, in collaboration with the Tlaquepaque City Council, inaugurated eight new rainwater harvesting systems in schools across the municipality as part of the “Escuelas con Agua” (Schools with Water) program.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Agustín Yáñez Elementary School, one of the beneficiary institutions, where authorities, the school community, and partners gathered to celebrate this initiative that promotes equitable access to water.
These facilities will directly benefit up to 3,600 students, who will now have a consistent and clean water source for their school activities, thus improving hygiene, health, and learning conditions at these campuses.
Each system has the capacity to collect between 500,000 and one million liters of rainwater annually—enough to cover the water needs of a school for three to five months. Additionally, the program includes educational workshops for students, teachers, and families, aiming to foster a culture of responsible water use that extends beyond the classroom into homes.
Juan Carlos Barrera, Director of the Western Region of Arca Continental México, emphasized: “We are convinced that a sustainable business model must create value beyond economic gains. With ‘Escuelas con Agua,’ we reaffirm our commitment to being the best neighbor in the communities where we operate, making a positive difference through water access.”
Laura Imelda Pérez Segura, Mayor of Tlaquepaque, stated: “Today, ‘Escuelas con Agua’ delivers these facilities so our children can benefit from water access and continue their development. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Arca Continental for this great project and reaffirm our willingness to continue working together.”
Andrés Lara, Senior Director of Public Affairs at Coca-Cola México, commented: “‘Escuelas con Agua’ is a seed of change, because by educating and empowering students on responsible water use, we are shaping a generation committed to their environment and community. At Fundación Coca-Cola México, we firmly believe that what we plant today will be the legacy of tomorrow.”
This initiative is part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy, aligned with its sustainable business model, which seeks to ensure the availability and accessibility of water for people, communities, and operations.
To date, Arca Continental has implemented 118 “Escuelas con Agua” in its operational territories, contributing to more than 600 schools nationwide that are part of this Fundación Coca-Cola México initiative.
