Hermosillo, México, August 31, 2018.-Arca Continental, one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers worldwide, in collaboration with the Coca-Cola Foundation, worked with the government of Sonora to furnish four shelters. The goal of this effort is to help children and adolescents who are victims of violence and abuse, and also to handle possible humanitarian migration crises derived from the state’s geographic location, which makes it a natural passage way for crossing the border.

During the opening ceremony —which was headed by Claudia Pavlovich, governor of the state of Sonora; Jesús Naime, head of the national DIF system; and Gema Jiménez, a consultant for UNICEF— attendants were able to see first-hand the spaces that have been furnished with exercise equipment and playground sets for children, that are part of theVive Tu Parqueinitiative of the Coca-Cola Mexican Industry, and that have been integrated in the Tin Otoch, Jineseki and Unacri shelters, all located in the city of Hermosillo, and the Camino a Casa shelter, in the city of Nogales.

Promoting physical activation as a strategy for integral wellbeing at centers that will be operated by the state department of family services (DIF) is aligned with the company’s Sustainability strategy.

“We are very enthusiastic about being part of these efforts and we are committed to continuing to support initiatives that promote the wellbeing of children and young people across the state, with joint projects in which, by communicating and collaborating, the government, society, and private companies are able to build projects that transcend in time and create a positive momentum”, explained Juan Carlos Barrera, Director for Arca Continental, Pacific Region.

With efforts such as these, Arca Continental reiterates its commitment to collaborating with the authorities and with the communities where it operates to benefit them, making sustainability a key pillar of the business’ performance.
