Monterrey, Mexico. July 23, 2018. – Arca Continental, one of the top Coca-Cola bottlers worldwide, in collaboration with the Runners Clubs Association in the state of Nuevo León, presented the 13th edition of the Monterrey Powerade Marathon, which will be run on December 9th.

On this occasion, the organizers have placed particular attention on having the marathon focus on social and environmental responsibility by obtaining the certification granted by the Responsible Sports Council. This includes planning and communication efforts, procurement, managing resources, access and equality, and a legacy for the community aimed at mitigating the environmental impact and increasing its social benefits.

The marathon’s route has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and meets qualifying standards for the World Championship of Amateur Marathons and the Boston Marathon.

“The Monterrey Powerade Marathon has become a tradition in the city given its high standards and positioning as the preferred race for first-time runners. The certifications we have obtained make this a world-class marathon”, said Edilberto González, president of the Runners Clubs Association in the state of Nuevo León and the marathon’s director.

“In line with Arca Continental’s and Coca-Cola’s social responsibility philosophy, this edition of the marathon has centered on protecting the environment by measuring our environmental footprint and aiming to achieve our goal of zero waste”, explained Rodolfo Tijerina, manager for the marathon.
