Monterrey, Nuevo León, November 14, 2025 — To promote water conservation among children and local communities, Arca Continental—one of the world’s leading Coca-Cola bottlers—and Fundación Coca-Cola México, in partnership with the Municipality of Monterrey, invested more than MX$3.5 million to install 14 new rainwater harvesting systems in schools across the city as part of the Escuelas con Agua program.

The inauguration ceremony took place at UANL High School No. 9, one of the schools benefiting from the initiative, where local authorities, the school community, and partners gathered to celebrate this effort to ensure equitable access to water.

“Thanks to the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and Arca Continental, Monterrey now leads in the number of schools equipped with this system, which allows us to reuse water. These are small but meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future, and Monterrey cannot be left behind,” said Adrián de la Garza Santos, Mayor of Monterrey.

These systems will directly benefit more than 15,000 students and are expected to collect over two million liters of rainwater annually—equivalent to 296 water trucks of 10,000 liters each—depending on rainfall and usage. This supply will cover the schools’ water needs during the rainy season and serve as an additional source during dry periods.

Santos Guzmán López, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, added: “We deeply appreciate this initiative and its positive impact on the community. We also recognize the efforts of Arca Continental, the Municipal Government, Fundación Coca-Cola, Isla Urbana, and our university authorities in making this project a reality and ensuring its continuity.”

With this latest addition, Monterrey now has 25 rainwater harvesting systems in local schools, strengthening its water infrastructure.

This initiative is part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy, aligned with its sustainable business model, which seeks to ensure water availability and access for people, communities, and operations.
“We believe a sustainable business model must create value beyond economics. Through Escuelas con Agua, we reaffirm our commitment to being the best neighbor to the communities we serve, making a positive difference through water access,” said Jesús Lucatero Díaz, Director of Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability at Arca Continental México.

To date, Arca Continental has inaugurated more than 180 Escuelas con Agua across its territories, benefiting over 90,000 people. These schools are part of the more than 900 included in this nationwide initiative led by Fundación Coca-Cola México and the Mexican Coca-Cola Industry.
