Arca Continental Promotes Water Conservation in Piedras Negras with the Distribution of 5,000 Eco-Friendly Showerheads

- 5,000 families will receive “Eco Grade” showerheads that reduce water consumption by up to 60% compared to conventional models.
- This initiative is part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy and its commitment to a sustainable business model that makes a positive difference in the communities where it operates.
Piedras Negras, Coahuila, September 19, 2025 – Arca Continental, a Mexican company and one of the largest Coca-Cola bottlers in the world, with nearly 100 years of history, is committed to refreshing the world and making a positive difference. In partnership with Coca-Cola Mexico, the municipality of Piedras Negras, and the local water authority SIMAS Piedras Negras, the company distributed 5,000 water-saving showerheads free of charge to families in the area as part of its “Ahórrate un Chorro” program.
These showerheads meet the NOM-008-CONAGUA-1998 standard to be classified as “Eco Grade,” a designation developed by CONAGUA. They guarantee a water flow of only 3.8 liters per minute, compared to conventional showerheads that can use more than 10 liters per minute.
“With the ‘Ahórrate Un Chorro’ program, we take a firm step toward a more conscious, sustainable municipality that is better prepared to face environmental challenges now and in the future. Thanks to Arca Continental’s generous donation, these eco-friendly showerheads are being distributed completely free of charge, helping reduce water consumption without sacrificing service quality. They generate direct savings on household water bills, reduce waste of this vital resource, and most importantly, help us build a culture of sustainability in our community,” said Carlos Jacobo Rodríguez González, Mayor of Piedras Negras.
With the donation and installation of these 5,000 showerheads, an estimated 31,000 liters of water could be saved per minute, which translates to over 162 million liters of water annually—relieving pressure on Coahuila’s public water system.
During the event, José Juan Estrada Salazar, Director of the Northeast Region of Arca Continental Mexico, stated: “At Arca Continental, we firmly believe that efficient water use is key to community well-being and planetary sustainability. Through initiatives like this, we not only promote concrete solutions for water conservation, but also reaffirm our commitment to generating social and environmental value in every region where we operate.”
This initiative is part of Arca Continental’s water security strategy. It reaffirms the company’s commitment to promoting sustainable solutions for water access in school communities. At the same time, it contributes to the positive impact Arca Continental generates in Coahuila, where it accounts for approximately 2.1% of the state’s GDP and provides over 4,000 direct jobs that strengthen the region’s economic and social development región.
